Take a close look at almost any electrical plug, and you'll notice something interesting: each metal prong has a small round hole near its tip. Most people never think about it. A Small Detail With a Big Purpose Those tiny holes are not decorative.  They were designed for practical engineering reasons. One important purpose is to help secure the plug inside certain types of electrical outlets.
